I'm 'of the Grassroots and For the Grassroots.'

I just posted the following on Facebook:

'A fellow advocate Brother told me today on the phone how much community work I've done in New Orleans & how I'm known in certain circles.

I had to tell him I'm utterly uninterested in whether those in the 'big house' of private sector & political privilege know of me.

I've never sought to be part of the 'in crowd' because I don't like what they're into: snobbery & serving a stifling status quo that's got to go.

I'm 'of the grassroots and for the grassroots'- not the 'big house.'

I appreciate his kind words.

I am not a preacher nor a holy roller.   Happy Founder's Day to the Black Panther Party! I was an infant when the party was founded on October 15, 1966. Their imagery and survival programs inspired my later #borrowabrother community safety creation outreach,  #halthunger food outreach to our homeless and 'almost homeless' working class and recently, #prayerfulpanther advocacy. As beloved ancestor Malcolm X inspired them, so have he and this first generation of Panthers inspired me, including local original New Orleans chapter member beloved Brother Malik Raheem. I Just Hope We Don't Have A Mass Shooting Leading Up To Or After the NBA YoungBoy Concert In New Orleans.
